Video Evidence That Americans Don't Know Anything About Soccer
We're at a strange junction in American soccer fandom. The sport is more popular and visible here than ever, but is still pretty niche. So when this guy decided to ask some college kids fairly basic soccer questions, the results were wildly inconsistent.
Even as a huge soccer fan myself, I have no problem with these kids not knowing most of the answers. What I like about soccer's irrelevance here, though, is the "who cares about soccer?" mentality, not the "I love Real Madrid! Who's Gareth Bale?" The students' only real error was not replying "fuck soccer" to every question. Well, that and not knowing who Lionel Messi is.
