Watching Random People Slap Each Other In The Face Is Weirdly Compelling
Inspired by the fake beautiful-people-kissing-is-beautiful video from all the way back in March, this is a video of random pairs of people slapping each other in the face.
Max Landis, the filmmaker responsible for the slapping, has a long, philosophical reason for making his friends and acquaintances (some of whom are models and actors) hit each other for real, but all you need to know is this: it is four minutes of people smacking each other in the face.
Each slap comes with the awkward moments as each person realizes he or she is going to willingly slap, and be slapped by, another person. Some of the slaps are good, some are like a Tiger Woods high-five, and some are executed via sneak attack. Some even feature Grizzly Adams Haley Joel Osment from The Sixth Sense. Most of them, though, feature that immediate gasp and Oh my God, I just slapped you realization. It's the perfect progression of rising action, climax, and denouement.
