We Need To Steal This Idea From Slovakia's Olympic Hockey Jerseys
Nike continues to roll out the Olympic hockey sweaters. (The Americans'? They're OK. Could do without the shoulder stars. And the phantom ties, though those are universal. At least they're not Nazi-inspired.) The Slovak jerseys were unveiled today, and they're pretty crisp. But there's one subtle, wonderful feature that's just begging to be copied.
Take a close look at the "striping" on the jerseys:
It's the lyrics to the Slovak national anthem, Nad Tatrou sa blýska. That's awesome. I move that we immediately steal this idea, and if jerseys with the Star-Spangled Banner can't be printed up in time for Sochi, we wear them at Pyeongchang with zero recognition that the concept wasn't entirely ours. It's the American way.
