Key Takeaways

The quality of your sleep is more important than the number of hours. Some people tend to sleep for over 10 hours and still feel exhausted. Always focus on things you do before and after getting to bed.

Adjusting your sleep schedule during a stressful period of your life can be challenging. When you work on your problems right away, you can expect to fall asleep earlier and feel better.

There isn’t a perfect recipe for everyone's sleep schedule. Work on improving your timing for food, exercise, and work.

Your environment has a big impact on your nap time. Messy places or even pets can cause sleep problems.

Things to Do Before Going to Sleep

There are some things you can’t avoid, like stress. But there are ways to handle it before going to sleep, like meditating. It won’t work for everyone, but some will exercise to get rid of all the negative energy they’ve built up during the day.

When it comes to things you have control of, there are a few that are a must. Exercise in a timely manner, screen usage, food, and environment are things you control, and they can work wonders for your sleep problems.

You don’t have to train every day. Start with 3 to 4 days if you are a beginner. Or, do some time of Zone 2 cardio, which can be done daily. It’s recommended to do it at least an hour after lunch.

Everyone is talking about not using your phone before sleep, and the majority fail to do so. One of the reasons is that they go all in. Try removing your phone for only 30 minutes in the beginning.

Changing your eating habits is probably the hardest, so we will talk more about the environment. Besides having a clean room, one of the things that helped me a lot was candles. You just need to find the right aroma that will help you sleep.

What Can be Done During Sleep?

Well, there’s not much you can do. It’s common for people to wake up around 3 am for no reason. And I found a life hack to get back to sleep faster instead of getting your phone and spending 2 more hours looking at memes.

I usually have a book on a night table that I never read. So, even though the book is great, at 3 am, I fall asleep like a baby when I start reading it again.

If nothing helps, some experts suggest that dog fur can irritate your breathing, causing you to wake up at random times. This happened to me when my Frenchy slept in the bed next to mine.

Should I do a Millionaire Morning Routine?

Nope. Most of the morning routines you see people do online are just for the video. I won’t suggest you start with a cold shower (even if I think it’s great), instead, I’ll give you two crucial tips that changed my mornings.

Meditate for 5 minutes - The first thing we start doing in the morning is checking our phone or starting to think about the stuff we have to finish that day. Meditation helps you calmly start your day and can dictate your whole day.

10-minute walk - Even if you have to go to work or school, 10 minutes is something everyone can afford. This is especially important for people who work from home. It tells your body that the day has started, and you get the blood flowing.

There’s no need to dig deeper and try to find some miracle method to improve your sleep. Only these small changes should be enough. For those who have bigger struggles with sleep, always consult your doctor. Make sure to check your gluten intolerance because you can feel sleepy all day because of it.
