Yadier Molina Involved In Another Close Play At The Plate
David Ross was called out on this play and maybe he was. Ross didn't argue the call. It's also possible that he eluded Yadier Molina's glove and snuck his hand in and touched the plate before running into the glove. What is indisputable is that Molina has once again found himself the beneficiary of a close call at home thanks to poor baserunning/good-to-not-terrible throws from the outfield.
Ross would have been the second run to score on Jacoby Ellsbury's single to short center and would have given the Red Sox a 4-1 lead in the seventh. Instead, the Cardinals got out of the inning. As of this posting, the Red Sox lead the Cardinals 3-1, heading to the bottom of the eighth.
