It's that time of day: The Bill Simmons Translator! The highlights of today's More Cowbell column:

Bill: I wasn't happy with yesterday's Steve Nash posting it was too long and I didn't have enough time to tinker with it. Should have waited a day before finishing it. Translation: Ordinarily, I would have agonized for hours over every sentence, tinkering, fidgeting, because this is the life of a Serious Writer writing Serious Things. This time I only spent 45 minutes a sentence, and I paid for it. Fortunately, I'm not insecure about it. At all.

Bill: And while we're here, they have been replaying "The Verdict" lately (it's on AMC tonight), my favorite Boston movie of all time. Translation: I haven't gone LA. Honest.

Bill: When will we see the Phoenix equivalent of Dan Shaughnessy writing "The Curse of Connie Hawkins"? Translation: My book — COMING OUT IN OCTOBER! — fortunately, has absolutely nothing to do with curses and Red Sox lore. Oh, and the book is totally different than the columns. Did I mention that?
