Just Liking The Florida Gators Will Get You Fired
After yesterday's kerfuffle regarding the Cincinnati media members that asked for Tim Tebow's autograph, it's fitting that another University of Florida graduate is involved in a media scandal. Meet Renee Gork; fired by an Arkansas sports radio network for going to UF.
On Saturday, at a Bobby Petrino press conference, Gork asked Coach Petrino a question which he answered but with the caveat: "And that will be the last question I answer with that hat on." Gork was wearing a Gators hat at the time because she went to Florida and is a fan of their sports programs. Razorbacks fans inundated Gork's station—Hog Sports Radio—with calls and emails demanding that Gork be fired for her transgression and Hogs Sports Radio obliged, firing Gork on Monday. FanHouse's Clay Travis does just about everything except outright say that these calls and emails were likely made by illiterate plateau-folk.
Travis hints that Gork will get her job back, so this story might blow over rather quickly, but if she asks for Ryan Mallet's autograph in the locker room, she should be canned for being unspeakably unprofessional.
