The Kansas City Chiefs (Basically) Killed A Guy
Seriously, that's what the obituary in the Kansas City Star says. "Loren G. 'Sam' Lickteig died on November 14 as a result of (OK, fine—complications due to multiple sclerosis—but also) "heartbreaking disappointment caused by the Kansas City football team."
There you have it. The Kansas City Chiefs killed a guy. It does not, however, appear to have been with malice aforethought, but rather a fairly well-documented record of negligence.
Sam's daughter Jennifer says the obituary was the family's way of letting Sam get back at the Chiefs for such a miserable run of late.
"My dad was such a comedian," she said. "He loved the Chiefs, so we had to let him have the last word."
The obituary comes the same day many Chiefs fans donned black at Arrowhead Stadium for the Cincinnati Bengals game in protest of the season and General Manager Scott Pioli.
The Chiefs are 1-9.
