Now The Mets Are Appealing A Scoring Decision To Try And Get R.A. Dickey A No-Hitter

The Mets filed an appeal with MLB's scoring review committee in an attempt to change the official ruling of B.J. Upton's first-inning at-bat in last night's Mets-Rays game from a hit to an error—a change that, if approved, would make R.A. Dickey the second Met ever to throw a no-hitter.

He'd also be the second Metropolitan to toss a no-no this month, after Johan Santana's feat. Santana's, of course, came with its own bit of controversy.

The video isn't conclusive and there are a lot of elements that really need to be considered, such as B.J. Upton's speed and that the Mets (being a National League team) only play on artificial turf in years they face A.L. East teams in interleague play. (While Upton's ball doesn't appear to actually strike turf, Wright's likely to have been taking a possible bounce into account when judging how to make the barehanded play.)
