MLB Pitcher Props Today: Best Baseball Bets for April 3rd
It's a full day of baseball today as we have a raft of home openers in the afternoon.
Let’s change it up a little bit and look at a couple pitcher props for our MLB Picks.
Season Record 2-3-1, -1.47 Units
Dodgers at Nationals
Emmet Sheehan Under 16.5 Outs Recorded (-105 bet365)
I’m super bullish on the young Dodger righty this season. He returned from TJ surgery last year with a fastball that sat at 95.6 MPH and he produced a 32.9% Whiff% (93rd percentile) and 30.6% K% (92nd percentile).
Unfortunately he’s going through a bit of a lull right now as he was down to 94 late in spring and in his first start and discouragingly, his velo was declining mid start both in late spring and in his regular season debut. In that start at home vs. the Diamondbacks he did strike out six of the 16 batters he faced in an inefficient 83 pitches.
But he also walked two, yielded five hits, and gave up loud 93.2 average EV contact. The Nats don’t figure to be a good offensive team this season, but they’ve started out well as they have a 120 wRC+ through six games, so they’re not pushovers right now.
And finally, last I checked Sheehan pitches for the Dodgers and the last thing they likely will do right now is push a young starter for innings on a meh weather early April day. They’d love to get five quality innings here and then turn it over to a fairly rested bullpen after yesterday’s off day.

Astros at Athletics
Cristian Javier Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120 DraftKings)
OK, I am going on a bit of a leap of faith here as the Astros righty struck out just 1 of the 21 Angels he faced in his season opener.
He’s not a great or even particularly good pitcher any more, but he’s normally close a league average whiff guy as he had a 21.7% K% last season and a 22% K% in spring. And he gets to face the Swingin’ A’s today. More aptly, they’re the Swingin’ and Missin’ A’s this season as they have an impossibly bad 35.2% K% with a 16.7% SwStr% through 6 games so far in 2026. He probably needs to just make it to the 5th inning to get to his number here. It will likely not be pretty, but i think he gets there.
