A-Rod To Retire Once The Yankees Have Paid Him Every Cent They Owe Him, And Not A Moment Before
After an MLB witch-hunt designed to force him out of the game in shame, the Yankees’ repeated attempts to void his contract and his milestone bonus money, and a comeback season that earned him redemption—if only as a foil to more actively sinister forces—Alex Rodriguez said today that he will retire following the 2017 season, at the conclusion of his 10-year, $275,000,000 deal.
Old A-Rod might’ve announced his retirement two years in advance just because he believes he’s entitled to a two-year victory lap. Nah. New A-Rod’s a good guy, who I totally believe is doing this solely to make the point that contracts are there to be honored. Get that money, A-Rod.
