Alabama Teabagger Gets Two Years In Prison
Brian Downing, arrested for teabagging an LSU Tigers fan in a restaurant on Bourbon Street after last year's BCS Championship game, pled guilty to two obscenity charges today and will serve a two-year jail sentence. He was able to avoid a trial and more extensive jail time by reaching a plea deal with the prosecutors.
From John Simerman of the Times-Picayune:
Downing would have faced as much as a 10-year sentence and been forced to register as a sex offender if he were convicted on the sexual battery count.
He arrived before 9 a.m. and sat quietly in a dark suit with his lawyers, but then was hardly seen in the courtroom as his attorneys, Miles Swanson and Michael Kennedy, worked out the plea agreement with prosecutors behind closed doors.
Justice has been served, and the teabagging saga has concluded. Roll Tide.
