Albert Pujols Not Only Wants MVP, He Wants Your "Best Boss Ever" Coffee Mug

It might not be the most pleasant matter for us to bring up here, but we kind of have to come out and say it: Our man Albert Pujols came off as a bit of a jerk yesterday.
Pujols, in discussing his second-place finish in the MVP race to Ryan Howard (a race we think Pujols should have won, but that's neither here nor there, and besides, Howard's exactly the type of player who's impossible to root against anyway — though we're sure Phillies fans will eventually find a way), told a group of Dominican Republic journalists yesterday that he was less than pleased.
"I see it this way: Someone who doesn't take his team to the playoffs doesn't deserve to win the MVP," Pujols said in Spanish at a news conference organized by the Dominican Republic's sports ministry.
As has been pointed out countless times already, the Phillies did, actually, win more games than the Cardinals this year, and we remain confused why Pujols cares all that much, having, you know, just won the World Series and all. (Weekly woo coming up: "Woo!") Pujols seems to making a habit out of this frustration that he cannot hit a home run every time up, win every award and generally be the girl with the most cake. This is part of the reason he's so great, of course, so we suspect it won't be going away anytime soon. We're pretty sure he's gonna get pissed that the Cardinals World Series DVD won't be nominated for an Oscar, though on that one, we're in his corner.
