Andrelton Simmons Makes Yet Another Impossible Play
Andrelton Simmons put another entry in his ridiculous, ever-growing defensive highlight reel with this slick bare-handed play during today's game against the Padres.
The most remarkable thing about this play is that it sure as hell looks like Simmons set it up to unfold just as it did. At first glance, I thought he got completely fooled by a bad hop and stuck out his hand in an act of desperation. But on the replay, you can see that he's already shuffling his feet and squaring up his body to make a throw to first before the ball even hits the ground. The ball shot a little farther to his right than he was anticipating, but it seems like he was planning on using his bare hand from the start. Who knows, maybe I'm projecting here, but this play is silly and awesome.
