Andrew Bynum Does His Best To Let Us Know He's Not Doing His Best
So one night after they were beaten by the lowly Pistons, how exactly did the Lakers blow a 21-point lead to lose to the even lowlier Wizards? That mutiny that seems to be building among the players over coach Mike Brown? The obvious tension between Brown and Kobe Bryant? The distraction of the constant trade rumors involving Pau Gasol? What say you, Andrew Bynum:
"I was out there kind of loafing around, having a good time," Bynum said. "It caught up."
ESPN tried to suggest that Bynum made the remark to distract from the drama of the reported player revolt. But Matt Barnes reacted to Bynum's comment with some seriousness, telling the Los Angeles Times:
"That can't happen. He's an All-Star, he's one of our best players. But it's not any one person. It's a collective effort. If he's tired, we have to pick him up. We've got people that are ready to play."
Bynum's having a great year, so he doesn't deserve the Bill Plaschke bloviathon that will probably ensue. Gotta love the honesty, too. That's good hustle.
