Argentine Cup Match Suspended After Players Won't Stop Beating The Shit Out Of Each Other
Argentina’s traditional summer tournaments came to an end last night with a suspension of the final Copa Ciudad de la Plata match due to both teams’ inability to cease punching and kicking each other.
Estudiantes took a 1-0 first half lead, and the second half was delayed ten minutes due to disruptions in the stands. Then this happened:
Gimnasia’s Facundo Oreja fell to the ground, unconscious, thanks to the blow from Alvaro Pereira (who earned a straight red). Then, later:
The sparked the brawl you can see in the video up top, which is not your typical “soccer fight” (which, for that matter, resembles most baseball ‘bench-clearers’) but an actual fight with guys getting punched, kicked, and thrown around. It’s great, except for bettors who wagered on Estudiantes only to have their bets canceled due to the fact the match never officially ended.
