Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-Imagn Images No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic rallied to win the Hellenic Championship on Saturday in Athens, Greece, initially denying No. 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti's bid to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals.
However, Djokovic, 38, said afterward in a post on social media that an "ongoing" shoulder injury would keep him out of the year-end championship that begins Sunday in Turin, Italy. Musetti, who had needed to win this tournament to leapfrog Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime, now has the eighth and final slot at the ATP Finals.
Djokovic of Serbia claimed his 101st career title with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory in just under three hours. Djokovic traded service breaks with the Italian in the 10th and 11th games of the final set before closing it out with a love hold. A 24-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic has won the ATP Finals seven times but also missed the 2024 event due to injury.
Moselle Open
American teenager Learner Tien captured his first ATP Tour title with a thrilling 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6) victory against No. 7 seed Cameron Norrie of Great Britain in Metz, France.
The 19-year-old Tien struck seven aces and saved seven of nine break points to win in two hours and 10 minutes. He lost his only previous final to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner at the China Open in September.
Norrie battled back from a 4-1 deficit during the deciding set to force the tiebreak, where Tien turned the tables by rallying from a 5-1 deficit and claiming the trophy on his second match point.
