Bracket Breakdown: South Region
Later today, we'll begin rolling out our Tidbit previews of each team/first-round matchup, but to kick us off, we're gonna look at each region. Here's the South region.
Best Storyline: If you picked four random Deadspin commenters and put them on the same team with Greg Oden, could they beat Central Connecticut State? Worst Storyline: Will Nick Fazekas have a tournament breakthrough? Everybody's Favorite Upset: Not many here. Stanford over Louisville? This is our least favorite bracket. Odd Fact: See if you can guess which team is the No. 1 seed and which is the No. 16 seed. One lis led by Greg Oden, the other is coached by a man named "Howie Dickenman." Most Handsome Man: Bruce Pearl, followed closely by Howie Dickenman. Most Skipable First-Round Game: Memphis-North Texas.
And, some predictions from around the Internets:
• Dick Vitale: Ohio State. • Jay Bilas: Ohio State. • Andy Katz: Texas A&M. • Stuart Mandel: Texas A&M. • Gregg Doyel: Memphis. • DEADSPIN: Ohio State. Big Ten Wonk put the bug in our ear earlier this season that the Buckeyes could be the 2007 version of the 2005 Illini ... except with Greg Oden. That's been stuck in our brain since.
Do you agree with Gregg Doyel? Did we really just type that? Let us know.
