Mandatory Credit: Ken Blaze-Imagn Images Four-time All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett sat out practice on Thursday with a hip injury, putting his status in question for the Cleveland Browns' season opener against the rival Cincinnati Bengals.
Garrett's participation in practice on Friday will go a long way toward determining his ability to compete in Sunday's season opener in Cleveland.
Signed to a four-year, $160 million extension in the offseason, Garrett has recorded nine sacks in his career against Cincinnati's Joe Burrow -- his most against any quarterback.
A six-time Pro Bowl selection and the winner of the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year award, Garrett has totaled 102.5 sacks, 20 forced fumbles, 200 quarterback hits and 116 tackles for loss in 117 career games (114 starts).
He is the only player in NFL history with 14 or more sacks in four consecutive seasons (2021-24).
