Bruins captain Brad Marchand recovering from 3 surgeries

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand is recovering from three surgeries this summer but hopes to be ready for training camp later this month.
Marchand, 36, had procedures on his elbow (torn tendon) and groin and for a sports hernia in his abdominal area.
"I didn't do a whole lot of training until about two weeks ago. So I'm just kind of getting back into it," Marchand said on Tuesday. "... The goal is to try to be ready for camp or, if not, very shortly after. But I'm just kind of getting back in the swing of things now."
The veteran winger is entering his 16th season with the Bruins. He recorded 67 points (29 goals, 38 assists) while playing all 82 games in 2023-24, adding 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 11 playoff games.
The four-time All-Star and 2011 Stanley Cup champion ranks fifth in franchise history in goals (401) and points (929), sixth in games (1,029) and seventh in assists (528).
The Bruins are scheduled to begin training camp on Sept. 18. Their first preseason game is on Sept. 22 against the New York Rangers.
