Bug Selig Wants To Chat With A-Rod About His Violent, Cocaine-y Poker Game
Yankee third baseman/centaur Alex Rodriguez has been on the DL since mid-July after knee surgery. His recovery's coming along nicely, but there's new trouble looming: MLB brass wants to ask him about the strange poker game he played in. He might get suspended, ESPN New York reports.
Here's why, per the RadarOnline story early this morning:
New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez played in an underground, illegal poker game where cocaine was openly used, and even organized his own high-stakes game, which ended with thugs threatening players.
A blockbuster Star investigation, published on RadarOnline.com, has uncovered the sordid charges being made by eyewitnesses who played in games with A-Rod, in the top-secret Texas Hold 'Em circuit.
Star first blew the lid off Tinseltown's clandestine gambling ring in June, revealing that A-list stars including Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon were deeply involved in the illegal games.
Now, no one claims A-Rod did any coke or beat anyone up. But, according to ESPN's story, the Commissioner's Office warned Rodriguez about his involvement in illegal poker dens way back in 2005, long before the hubbubs of Madonna and Selena Roberts. The golden boy was then, as now, dirtier than he appeared.
