Cam Ward Is Right, the Tennessee Titans Are Ass
The Tennessee Titans probably envisioned a better start to their season after making Cam Ward the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
But now, it’s Ward calling out his new organization just four games into his professional career.
“If we keep it a buck right now, we ass,” Ward said after Week 4’s loss. “We've dropped a quarter of our fu****g games.”
The Titans are 0-4. Ward delivered that poetic quote minutes after a 26-0 shutout at the hands of the Houston Texans, who have not exactly been world beaters to start the season.
Ward has shown flashes that prove he was worthy of the No. 1 overall selection, but Tennessee’s offense under second-year head coach Brian Callahan is dreadful. If the Titans can’t get this fixed, there’s no question that Tennessee could be looking for a new head coach this offseason to pair with their young quarterback.
While Ward cannot shoulder the entire blame, he has to be better. He’s completing just over 50 percent of his passes this season. He has two touchdowns and two interceptions. That’s simply not going to cut it at the NFL level.
But the decision to bet on Ward succeeding in the NFL right away proved that the Titans are a team without much of a direction. Once quarterback Will Levis hit the injured reserve, Tennessee’s only other option at quarterback was Brandon Allen. Of course, that paved the way for Callahan to play his first-round quarterback.
In just a small sample size, the New York Giants of all teams seem to have done a better job preparing their rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. Russell Wilson started the first three games for the Giants before head coach Brian Daboll pulled the plug and started Dart, who delivered a Week 4 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Since the Titans do not have the luxury of injecting that sort of spark into their offense, something needs to change from within.
The first step should be finding anything to lean on offensively. Ward was the No. 1 overall pick, but through four games, he’s proven that he cannot be Superman. The Titans have failed to get the running game going, with Tony Pollard averaging only 3.8 yards per carry. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been a complete nonfactor, catching just 10 passes for 141 yards throughout the first four weeks.
Tennessee’s schedule softens just a tad in the coming weeks. They’ll travel to Arizona to play the Cardinals in Week 5 before taking over Las Vegas to play the Raiders. After that west coast swing, they’ll host the New England Patriots.
Until the Titans can properly use their veteran playmakers, Callahan’s offense is going to continue to struggle. Or in the words of Ward, look like ass.
