Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports The St. Louis Cardinals signed free-agent infielder Brandon Crawford to a one-year contract for the upcoming season, the team announced on Tuesday.
Financial terms were not disclosed by the Cardinals.
A three-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner and two-time World Series champion with the San Francisco Giants, Crawford is expected to compete for a backup infield spot in St. Louis.
"We're excited to be adding a player with the winning credentials and pedigree of a Brandon Crawford," said John Mozeliak, the Cardinals president of baseball operations said.
"He is someone that will provide us with valuable depth and experience on the infield, and can also be a great resource for our younger players, such as Masyn Winn."
In 2021, Crawford batted .298 with a career-high 24 homers and 90 RBIs to finish fourth in the National League MVP voting. He batted just .194 with seven homers and 38 RBIs in 93 games last season.
Crawford, 37, is a career .250 hitter with 146 homers and 744 RBIs in 1,654 career games with the Giants, who selected him in the fourth round in the 2008 draft.
