Celtics Beat Trail Blazers On Sloppiest Game-Winner Of The Year
Down two to the Trail Blazers with under 10 seconds remaining, the Celtics were relying upon Jared Sullinger to get them a crucial basket. That should tell you all you need to know about how good they are, that Brad Stevens looked up and down his bench for his best option and settled upon Sullinger. The move didn't quite work, but to his credit Sullinger—who has shown this year that he could be an important bench piece for a contending team—fell on the floor and made something out of nothing. Evan Turner has never been a great three-point shooter, but he's 50% on corner threes this season (via Basketball Reference), and probably even better while wide open.
The loss capped a sadsack day for the Trail Blazers, who learned earlier that LaMarcus Aldridge will miss six-to-eight weeks with a torn thumb ligament.
