Chicharito Is On Fire
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez’s move away from Manchester United and Real Madrid off to Bayer Leverkusen probably seemed like settling, an acknowledgement on his part that he wasn’t cut out for the biggest, most ambitious teams in the world. But the first half of his debut Bundesliga season has been revelatory, and he has 15 goals in his last 12 games, including three in today’s stomping of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
His first was an impressive work of close control in the box.
Then, he scored from distance, before...
...scoring a classic Chicharito right-place-right-time goal.
Bayer are in the midst of a seven-team scrap for the last two Champions League spots. They got knocked down to the Europe League this year, but the most important thing to have on a long stretch run is a consistent goal scorer, and Chicharito appears to fit that role perfectly.
