In his first regular season game, and on Monday Night Football, San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick continued his protest against police brutality by kneeling during the playing of the national anthem. He was joined by teammate Eric Reid.
Additionally, two other teammates, Eli Harold and Antoine Bethea, raised their first during the national anthem, as did two Los Angeles Rams players, Kenny Britt and Robert Quinn.
Showcasing the diverse views of NFL players on the national anthem, protest, police brutality, and a host of other subjects, 49ers defensive tackle Quinton Dial helped hold the American flag on the field with military personnel.
Update (11:36 p.m.): We’re told the #49 jersey is to recognize Jason Gaviati.
