D.C. United pull even with Toronto FC on late penalty kick

Mandatory Credit: Daniel Kucin Jr.-USA TODAY Sports Toronto FC's Derrick Etienne Jr. scored just 89 seconds into the match but a penalty kick by host DC United's Mateusz Klich in extra time resulted in a 2-2 draw Saturday night.
Struggling DC United scored both of their goals late in the match, the second coming after Toronto was forced to play a man down.
Federico Bernardeschi, who assisted on Etienne's goal, also scored in the first half for Toronto (7-7-3, 24 points).
Theordore Ku-Dipietro scored for DC United in the 79th minute.
Bernardeschi was given his second yellow card in the 87th minute, meaning a red card and Toronto would play a man down for the rest of the game.
A second yellow to Toronto's Nickseon Gomis, whose foul in the penalty area resulted in Klich's penalty kick, created another red card.
DC United (4-6-7, 19 points) have a five-match winless streak.
Toronto FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson, in his first match since recording his 100th career clean sheet in MLS regular-season play, made six saves.
DC United goalkeeper Alex Bono wasn't credited with a save.
Etienne, a rookie midfielder, notched his first career goal on the match's first shot, which came from just inside the top of the box as DC United's defense failed to get set. The goal came in Etienne's fifth start of the season.
Bernardeschi converted his seventh goal of the season in the 33rd minute on Raoul Petretta's assist. Bernardeschi did much of the work by taking the ball into the box and then firing a far-post strike for the tally.
Bernardeschi has scored at least one goal in four of the last five matches, with all seven of his goals coming during that stretch.
Ku-Dipietro's goal marked his second of the season as he deposited a rebound after Johnson made an initial save but couldn't control the ball.
Klich's penalty kick came with a soft touch as Johnson went in the opposite direction.
