Devin Hester Was "Basically Attacked" With A Sucker Slap At A Casino Last Week
You know who would probably be a bad person to slap in the back of the head in public? An NFL player. Specifically, an NFL player who is considered one of the fastest men in the sport and who can probably chase you down even if you're speeding away in a Rascal.
Still, people do strange things when they're in casinos. Sometimes, they sucker slap Devin Hester:
A man was arrested at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines [Ill.] after police said he slapped Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester in the back of the head.
Hester was in a cash transaction line at around 10:40 p.m. Friday when Daniel G. Rago, 52, of the 200 block of Wille Street in Mount Prospect, approached the football player, slapped him in the back of the head and walked away, Des Plaines Police Chief Jim Prandini said.
Hester's agent, Eugene Parker, said that the Bears receiver was "basically attacked," and the Des Plaines police are basically treating the incident as such. Rago was charged with a misdemeanor account of battery and will appear in court on Dec. 1. Two days after the alleged attack, Hester scored two touchdowns—including a 98-yard touchdown return off of a Vikings punt—in a 39-10 win at Soldier Field.
Rago had no comment, so it is unclear why he didn't just go for the more traditional hot dog assault. Especially at such close range.
