Mandatory Credit: Eric Hartline-Imagn Images Philadelphia star defensive tackle Jalen Carter was fined by the NFL for the second time this season, this time for his behavior in the Eagles' comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams last week.
The league announced Saturday that Carter was fined $11,593 for unsportsmanlike conduct/taunting for his actions in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 33-26 win.
With 8:40 left in Sunday's game, Carter blocked a field goal attempt by Rams kicker Joshua Karty, giving the Eagles possession. After the block, Carter gestured towards the Rams players, an act that drew a taunting penalty.
Carter was previously fined for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the Eagles' 24-20 win in Week 1.
He was ejected from the season opener when he spat on Prescott before the first play from scrimmage, then fined his Week 1 game check for the act. Carter makes $57,222 per week, per ESPN, making the fine the largest of the season.
Carter, 24, apologized after the game and promised it wouldn't happen again.
"You know, it was a mistake that happened on my side, and it just won't happen again," Carter told reporters after the game. "I feel bad for just my teammates and the fans out there. You know, I'm doing it for them.
"I'm doing it for my family also but the fans, they show the most love. You heard them out there and not being able to start the game to finish the game just [expletive] up, but it won't happen again."
Carter was a Pro Bowler last season after racking up 4.5 sacks among his 12 tackles for loss, plus six pass deflections and two forced fumbles. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, sliding after legal troubles popped up around the time of the scouting combine.
