How Many Katrina Retrospectives Are Too Many?
It’s been 10 years since Hurricane Katrina, and you probably already know this is because seven million writers all descended upon the town this summer to craft their own meditations on what it all MEANS. The most notable of these pieces was the 25,000-word (!) epic written by Wright Thompson that will take up the entirety of an ESPN the Magazine features well. These pieces are all very long and very serious, but are they any GOOD? Do they serve anyone other than a Writer who wants to write about Big Important Shit? That’s the subject of this week’s Deadcast.
But there’s more! Marchman and I also talk hot cricket takes, the strange catfishing saga of IK Enemkpali, MMA, workout meals, and more. We also read angry Michael Vick tweets from Steelers fans, because they are the worst. If you have anything you’d like to hear discussed on the podcast, just send it in to [email protected] with the subject line DEADCAST. You can listen to the show here or download it over at the iTunes store.
