People Are Paying For Coffee Made From Poop
In news that is old to much of the world but very new and alarming to me, there is a type of coffee out there called Kopi Luwak that retails for $168.95 per bag and is processed by feeding coffee beans to a civet—a kind of Indonesian woodland creature—and then letting the beans pass through its stool. That’s right. The fanciest coffee in the world is POOPY PEYOTE COFFEE, and it is the subject of this week’s special Halloween Deadcast.
After recording this discussion we then discovered that our fancy-pants colleague Barry Petchesky has indeed tried the poop coffee. Here now is his review:
Ehh, nothing amazing. I feel like it maybe tasted slightly smoother than normal? But also I was expecting it to, and I don’t usually drink anything other than the cheapest instant coffee anyway.
Fuck me, man. Anyway, Marchman and I also talk about bargain candy, Greg Hardy, ETHICS, the World Series, and other pointless crap. If you have anything you’d like to hear discussed on the podcast, just send it in to [email protected] with the subject line DEADCAST. You can listen to the show here or download it over at the iTunes store.
