Steph Curry Succumbs To Steep And Sudden Athletic Decline
credits: Ezra Shaw | source: [object Object] Steph Curry participated in the Ellie Mae Classic this week, for the second year in a row. Last year Curry shot 74-74 on Thursday and Friday, and missed the cut by 11 shots. It was by no means a world-class showing, but it was impressive stuff from a professional basketball player.
But the march of time is a real son of a bitch, and where the fresh-faced Steph of yesteryear was tied for the 148th-best golfer at the 2017 Web.com event, the grizzled and broken down old Steph of 2018 could do no better than 154th place—dead last in the field, a whopping 33 stroked behind the leader, and 13 strokes behind the cut line.
Steph did have one impressive throwback moment, when he looked like the golfer of old on this 8th-hole birdie on Thursday:
But mostly he was junk:
“I couldn’t hit a driver to save my life today, so that’s how golf goes,” Curry said. “One day you have it, or at least in the amateur world, one day you have it and one day you completely lose it and you have no idea what you’re doing over the top of the ball.”
So there you have it. The end of an era. The inexorable athletic decline of Steph Curry is well underway.
