Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are turning Monday Night Football into a Meet the Parents sequel
source: Getty Images For multiple reasons, tonight’s Monday Night Football game on ESPN might be one of the most watched in NFL history. For diehard NFL fans, it’s last year’s Super Bowl rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. On top of that, we have the parents of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift set to meet for the first time. The Swift-Kelce alliance is officially headed down the path of no return.
This will undoubtedly be a family affair at Arrowhead Stadium, with Travis and Jason on the field and the parents meeting for the first time. The NFL should’ve flown in Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro to put it over the top. However, according to some reports, Swift might not be in attendance due to her tour schedule. She could be using that as an excuse to skip out on that first meeting of the parents.
Hopefully, Taylor’s absence doesn’t stop her parents from attending the game. Having all four parents in a suite, we’re guaranteed to get tons of camera shots of them cheering during the game.
However, with the Swift family being alleged Eagles fans, this could get spicy in a hurry.
If the parents’ meet and greet goes down regardless of whether the Grammy winner is there, the couple’s fate could be sealed as some view Travis as the one to get Taylor to the altar. While Swifties are indeed awaiting the announcement of the duo’s impending nuptials, some might urge them to proceed carefully.
We know how celebrity marriages can turn out, and Swift has far more to lose should that feeling of “love” fade away. Honestly, I wish them the best, but would advise Ms. Swift to take her time. There’s no need to jump into getting the government all up in your business.
While tonight’s game would be huge either way, having such a tremendous pop star linked to one of the star players, with both families likely in attendance, makes this must-see TV. Whether you’re one of Swift’s minions or a Chiefs or Eagles fanatic, this game has something for everyone and could set viewership records with all that surrounds it. And the biggest winner in all of this is the NFL. All the extra publicity the league has received over the last couple of months as a result of this courtship has been astronomical. Surely, Roger Goodell hopes to keep this going as long as possible.
