Fan Saves Child From Flying Bat
A remarkable photo here from Pittsburgh Tribune-Review photographer Christopher Horner, capturing the split second a quick-thinking fan reached out and deflected a bat that appeared on a collision course for a kid’s face.
Here’s the next frame Horner shot: it really looks like the fan got enough of it for it to spin around the back of the kid’s head without doing any serious damage.
Two takeaways here. First, this is exactly why teams are installing and expanding safety netting behind the plate and along the dugouts. Second, if you’re sitting in the second row, try to keep yourself and your children off your phones.
