FBS rushing leader Cam Cook of Jacksonville State to enter portal

(Dave Hyatt / Hyatt Media LLC) Jacksonville State running back Cam Cook, the FBS rushing leader, announced on Wednesday that he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Cook, who transferred from TCU to Jacksonville State for the 2025 season, leads the FBS in yards (1,659) and carries (295) and shares fourth in rushing touchdowns (16) in 13 games.
The Conference USA Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year earned All-America honors while leading the league in rushing (127.6) and all-purpose (149.6) yards per game.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior also leads the FBS in total yards from scrimmage (1,945) and rushed for at least for 100 yards and one touchdown in every regular-season CUSA game.
Cook rushed for 92 yards and a TD in the 19-15 setback to Kennesaw State in the league title game on Dec. 5. He did not play for Jacksonville State (9-5) in its 17-13 win over Troy in the IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl on Dec. 16.
A native of Round Rock, Texas, Cook rushed for 418 yards and nine TDS in 21 games over two seasons at TCU, including team highs of 119 carries, 460 yards and nine rushing TDs in 12 games 2024. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
