Five Rutgers Football Players Arrested And Charged With Assault
The Middlesex County prosecutor’s office just announced that five Rutgers football players have been arrested for allegedly participating in an unprovoked assault that occurred on April 25, 2015 and left a 19-year-old student with a broken jaw
The five players who have been arrested are Andre Boggs, Ruhann Peele, Nadir Barnwell, Razohnn Gross, and Delon Stephenson. Police became aware of the alleged assault while investigating a spree of break-ins and burglaries near the campus, and determined that one of the men allegedly participating in the robberies, former Rutgers player Tejay Johnson, also participated in the alleged attack carried out by the football players. Police are also looking for Delon Stephenson’s brother, Daryl, another former Rutgers player believed to have been involved in the assault.
If you recognize Nadir Barnwell’s name, it’s because he’s the player that head coach Kyle Flood apparently tried to keep eligible by putting pressure on a professor about Barnwell’s grades. The investigation into whether Flood broke school policy by doing so is still ongoing.
