Florida's Erving Walker Arrested For Alleged Theft Of Taco
Erving Walker's career as a guard for Florida's basketball team ended with last week's loss to Louisville in the Elite Eight. He's since moved on to becoming an alleged taco bandit. According to the Palm Beach Post, citing a report from the Gainesville (Fla.) Police Department, this is what Walker is accused of doing around 1 a.m. today:
According to the arrest report, Walker ordered a $3 taco from a street vendor downtown, received the food, then ran away without paying. When a police officer caught up with him and yelled for him to stop, Walker kept going, the report said.
The arresting officer finally caught Walker with help from "several marked patrol cars." When the police reached Walker, he told them he was "just playing around," the report said. The officer wrote that Walker "stated when he ran off with the taco he knew that he had not paid for it and that he was stealing food."
"Several marked patrol cars"? For a taco? All told, Walker kept the cops in pursuit for about three blocks, and the police report made no mention of drugs or alcohol. Walker was cited for a pair of misdemeanors and not jailed. It is not known what happened to the taco.
