Football Recruit Schedules College Decision Announcement At Elementary School, Never Shows Up [UPDATE]
Five-star football recruit Davonte Neal let the excitement of National Signing Day pass him by, electing to make his decision today at an elementary school in his hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona. Recruiting pros said the decision would be between Arizona, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Arkansas—with Notre Dame and Arizona being at the top of Neal's list.
This morning's event has passed, and it seems Notre Dame and Arizona are still at the top of Davonte Neal's list, as the WR/Athlete prospect never showed for the event. Fox Sports Arizona aired the whole thing live online, and here's the "highlights," with host Mark McClune doing his best to make something of what became a non-event. (FS Arizona columnist Craig Morgan's visible anger as he speaks with McClune at the end is priceless.)
Update (3:38 p.m.): Neal finally showed up at the elementary school, apologized to the kids, and announced he's committing to Notre Dame. That's per Inna Lazarev, who's featured briefly in the above video and who posted a photo of Neal announcing the decision.
