DiCicco, who coached the team from 1994 to 1999, is the only manager of the U.S. to have won both a World Cup and Olympic gold. Here’s his son Anthony’s statement:
Under DiCicco’s reign, the U.S. finished third in the 1995 World Cup, won gold in the 1996 Olympics, and won the World Cup in 1999—the latter two tournaments both hosted by the U.S. He also coached the U-20 team in 2008, when they won the U-20 World Cup.
