Game Of Thrones Author Says Patriots Are The NFL's Lannisters

We already knew that George R. R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, is a Jets fan. (He called the Tebow trade awful, and Tebow the "worst quarterback in the National Football League.") So SI got him on the phone to talk some football.

The highlights:

• Martin thinks he'll complete his next book before the Jets win a Super Bowl. It took him six years to write the last one.

• The only NFL player to write him a fan letter was journeyman fullback Darian Barnes, a fellow Jersey boy.

• The Giants are the Stark family of the NFL, because they're heroes. Their archenemies, the Patriots, are the Lannisters.
