Gregg Popovich Calls Out Robert Sarver For Calling The Spurs Out
Suns owner Robert Sarver shared his thoughts over a microphone when the Spurs sat most of their good players for Thursday's preseason game. San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich, who also wasn't at the game, finally had a response to Sarver yesterday.
From Spurs Nation:
Most wise individuals would check facts before they made statements. Unless you're interested in putting on a show. In that case, the facts get in your way, as in this case.
Popovich said that there were legitimate reasons for sitting five players against Phoenix: Patty Mills is recovering from surgery; Tiago Splitter and Kawhi Leonard have actual injuries; and Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are old dudes who need to be preserved in amber. Pop ended his comments with a burn:
The only thing that surprises me is that he didn't say it in a chicken suit. I'll just leave it at that.
It's a crime that Gregg Popovich doesn't talk more often.
