Hanley Ramirez Does Most Hanley Ramirez Thing Ever, Takes A 30.3 Second Home Run Trot
According to Baseball Prospectus, which is home to the wonderful Tater Trot Tracker, Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez— no stranger to taking his time on the diamond—took one of the longest home run trots in history on July 1st. It took Ramirez 30.3 seconds to make it around the bases, which is only the second non-injury induced trot that has broken the 30 second mark since the inception of the Tater Trot Tracker. Ramirez's mark came in just short of David Ortiz's record trot of 30.59 seconds, which was recorded in May of 2010.
You can watch the trot unfold for yourself below. The best part comes at the very end, when Ramirez slows down to a walk just before reaching home plate:
If Ramirez isn't careful, he might find himself as the punching bag in the Daily Caller's next bat-shit insane baseball column, because guess who has the fastest home run trot so far this year. That would be Conservative Hero Bryce Harper, at 16.35 seconds.
