R.A. Dickey is one of the best stories in baseball this year, partly due to his singular, newfound success and the fact that he's doing it in a way different from every single other big league pitcher. As fate would have it, documentarians Anne Sundberg and Ricki Stern shadowed Dickey and Tim Wakefield's journey through the 2011 season for their new documentary Knuckleball!, and Dickey's unlikely success this year makes it one of the more interesting sports flicks to come along in a while. The film also sprinkles in perspective and insight from knuckleballing legends Phil Niekro and Charlie Hough, as well as teammates (like Jason Varitek) and other baseball types.

The film should hit select theaters in New York and Boston, as well as video-on-demand, on Sept. 18. Just because the knuckleball is one of those things in sports I find endlessly fascinating, this one looks like a must-see.
