Jaguars Fans Will Hold A "Sign Tim Tebow" Rally At 3:16 P.M.
The group's slogan captures all the passion and purpose of Jaguars football: "Why not?" Why not, indeed.
After the Jaguars fell to 0-2 with Chad Henne under center, proving that they aren't a playoff team only held back by Blaine Gabbert, the rest of the season is pretty much a race for Teddy Bridgewater. So why not hand the reins to someone who will suck just as badly, and maybe sell some jerseys in the process?
The lo-fi "Jags-Tebow Why Not?" website is urging fans to gather in the EverBank Field parking lot this afternoon at 3:16 p.m., for a rally to last three hours and 16 minutes, to urge the Jaguars to waste a roster spot on former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow. As the site says, "when you have nothing, you have nothing to lose."
The Jaguars front office has shown precisely zero interest in signing Tebow, and it's not like it hasn't had countless chances. So this promises to be a sad, sparsely attended rally with no hope of effecting change. Still, I find myself agreeing with one Jacksonville columnist: let them sign Tebow just so he can be terrible for a couple games, and we'll never have to hear from his fans again.
