Jannik Sinner participated in a limited training session on Tuesday, one day in advance of his Wimbledon quarterfinal match vs. 10th-seeded American Ben Shelton.

Earlier reports said that Sinner had canceled the session, awaiting an MRI results on his right elbow.

The All England Club confirmed that Sinner's 4 p.m. indoor session at Wimbledon's Aorangi Park had been scrubbed, but the top-ranked Italian's coach Darren Cahill told ESPN that his pupil did hit some balls.

"We did go out to the indoor courts and just fed balls (to him) for 20-30 minutes, just to feel the ball," Cahill said. "He's going to be OK, it was just nice to get on the court -- it's impossible for him to take a day off."

Sinner sustained the injury during an early fall in Monday's fourth-round win against 19th-seeded Grigor Dimitrov.

Sinner, 23, dropped the first two sets in that match before Dimitrov retired due to his own injury at 2-2 in the third set.

A three-time Grand Slam winner, Sinner's best showing at the grass-court major was a semifinal effort in 2023.

The match will take place on Court 1, after the ladies' quarterfinal match between Iga Swiatek and Liudmila Samsonova, which gets underway at 1 p.m. local time.
