Joe Nathan Tells The Home Crowd How He Really Feels
The Detroit Tigers are in a miserable tailspin right now, having lost seven of their last nine games and the division lead going into last night's contest against the Pirates. The Tigers won that game 8-4, but not before struggling closer Joe Nathan heard it from the home crowd. Nathan, it seems, is feeling a bit fed up.
Nathan, whose season ERA sits at 5.11, came on in the top of the ninth with his team up four. He proceeded to walk the first two batters, and that's when the boos started to rain down. He ended up finishing off the Pirates with no damage done, and after the final out was recorded, he shared his feelings with the crowd:
That's not a double-barreled middle-finger salute or anything, but the "Go fuck yourself!" sentiment is coming across pretty clearly. Seems like it's really fun to be playing baseball in Detroit right now!
