Kliff Kingsbury's Swaggy And Expensive-Looking Watch Is Probably Fake
Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury, the man who has gone to great lengths to craft a "James Bond coaches football" image for himself, showed up at Big 12 media days sporting a very expensive-looking watch. People on Twitter were taken aback by the watch, a Breitling Mulliner Tourbillon model that retails for over $100,000. The watch is most likely a cheap knockoff.
A helpful tipster alerted us to the fact that Kingsbury's watch, pictured above, bears a striking resemblance to various knockoffs that can be found on the internet for about $100. The real version of that watch looks like this:
But don't take our word for it! The fellas over at breitlingsource.com, who seem to know what the hell they are talking about, called out Kingsbury's watch as an obvious fake:
Fake tourbillon at 6 is a dead giveaway, plus wrong date font, subdial font, watch has pushers but no chronograph.
Another moderator chimes in:
Actually it could well have a chronograph based on the fact that it has a subdial to 30 (it doesn't, but the dial on this one doesn't reveal that).
There is no real Breitling with this dial layout, the only tourbillon Breitling is a 9 o'clock one, and this is a common low end fake that is instantly recognisable.
I don't really know what any of those words mean!
There's no shame in purchasing a knockoff version of an astoundingly expensive watch. But there's something about Kliff Kingsbury that tells me he's the kind of guy who would like you to believe he owns a $100,000 watch.
