Klitschko Wins An Easy Decision Over Ibragimov
It wasn't an exciting fight and it certainly won't propel him into the big money, but Wladimir Klitschko won a unanimous decision over Sultan Ibragimov. I had the fight scored as a 12 round shutout, but the judges were a bit more kind to the Russian.
Klitschko's win brings him a second heavyweight title, and control of the division. Although he didn't end it with his traditional knockout, the fight followed a familiar pattern. Wily Wlad refused to unleash a right hand in the first half of the fight, but his punishing jab found itself a home on Ibragimov's head. The challenger was never able to work his way inside because Klitschko was directing him all over the ring. The champ's stance and jab dictated the fight all the way until the end.
I'm still more than a little pissed that we didn't get to see Duddy fight on the undercard. Kelly Pavlik's next opponent showed once again why people believe he'll put up such a good fight. The Irish fighter who's found a home in New York received a pretty vicious cut over his left eye, but he fought on to win on the judge's cards.
