Kobe Bryant: I Suck
Late-stage Kobe Bryant, while proven to be entertaining in his own particular way, is not a very effective basketball player. He was hilariously bad before tearing his rotator cuff last year, and he’s continued to be very bad through the first five games of this season. This fact is not lost on Kobe Bryant.
After last night’s loss to the Mavericks, in which Bryant went 3-of-15 from the field, he offered a harsh evaluation of his own performance. From the Los Angeles Times:
“I suck right now,” said Bryant, 37, who scored 22 points fewer than his age. “I’m the 200th-best player in the league right now.”
Kobe’s shooting 31 percent from the field this year, and he’s made just six of his 33 shots from behind the arc. Along with these dismal numbers have come some plays where Bryant has simply looked old and overmatched. For example:
