Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The NBA fined Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic $50,000 for "directing an inappropriate and unprofessional gesture" to a game official.
The fine, announced Tuesday, was for an incident that occurred Sunday night in the Lakers' 110-97 home victory over the New York Knicks.
With 4:35 left in the third quarter, Doncic planted himself in the lane and thought he had taken a charging foul. When no call was made, Doncic rubbed his fingers together on both hands to make the "money" sign, apparently trying to imply the official was being paid.
Doncic scored 35 points on 11-of-25 shooting (5 of 16 from 3-point range) and added eight rebounds and four assists.
The guard leads the NBA with a scoring average of 32.5 points per game and is third in assists with 8.4. The 27-year-old has been named a first-team All-NBA player five times.
